| Most
people have heard the terms, Advance Directive,
Living Will, and Medical Power of Attorney. But,
do you really have a full understanding of what
they are and how they are used? Will they be honored
or ignored by your physician and hospital? Are physicians
required to provide or withdraw treatment that you
want or do not want in end of life? What are some
of the Ethical issues that can arise in end of life
care? In this seminar, we will explore these complex
issues and provide you with real world information
on what you need to do to protect your right of
autonomy for end of life treatment. You will also
be given the opportunity to complete an Advance
Directive and have all your questions answered. |

| Palliative
Care specializes in the relief of the pain, symptoms
and stress of serious illness. The goal is to prevent
and ease suffering and to offer patients and their
families the best possible quality of life. It is
useful at any stage of illness. It can be provided
at the same time as treatment that is meant to cure
you. Our seminar will address the following questions
about palliative care: How does it differ from hospice?
Where do you receive palliative care? Does insurance
pay for this service? How to start getting palliative
care? What can I expect from palliative care? Who
provides palliative care? There will be an informal
overview of Palliative Care with a discussion to
help you better understand your options for care,
when you or a loved one suffers from serious illness. |
